Are students vaping more? Educators think so

National data has shown a decrease in vaping among young people, but faculty on site in several school districts are reported in an Education Week study that they are seeing an increase. Tobacco use expert Ashley Merianos, professor of human services, say disparity in the study and national reports could be the result of low self-reporting.

UC exercise science professor celebrates retirement after nearly 4 decades

After 39 years at the University of Cincinnati, Bradley Wilson has retired from the School of Human Services and the Exercise Science program he helped to build. He looks back on how he found his way into academia and some highlights from his career, and he shares what he plans to pursue in retirement, including contributions he still hopes to make to UC and the College of Education, Criminal Justice, Human Services, and Information Technology.

UC partners with Cincinnati Public Schools on $3.75M initiative

A partnership between the University of Cincinnati, Cincinnati Public Schools (CPS), Central State University in Ohio (CSU) and local mental health agencies has been formed to address the growing mental health needs of K-12 students in the region. The program is federally funded by a $3.75M grant from the Department of Education.

A three-year, $3.75 million grant from the Department of Education aims to address critical gaps in the mental health and educational landscape by providing tuition stipends for UC graduate students majoring in school and mental health counseling, school psychology and social work.
