The University of Cincinnati College-Conservatory of Music is proud to share that one of its current master’s degree students, Robert Brooks Carlson, won second prize and $5,000 at the National Federation of Music Clubs (NFMC) Young Artist Competition. Carlson studies with CCM Associate Professor of Piano Soyeon Kate Lee, who was recognized earlier this year with UC’s Mrs. AB Dolly Cohen Award for Excellence in Teaching.

UC College-Conservatory of Music alum Carlos García León (MA/MBA, '16) and current MM Voice student Jaime Sharp were selected as inaugural participants in the Mentorship Program for Opera Leaders of Color. This new initiative exists to advance racial equity in the field by pairing BIPOC professionals with executive-level leaders who can support them in achieving their career goals.

Emily Baxter, fine arts senior in UC’s College of Design, Architecture, Art, and Planning, spent her co-op working for RARECulture, a New York-based design firm, but worked right here in the Queen City creating wall plaques and historical designs for the region's new sports venue: TQL Stadium, home of major league soccer team FC Cincinnati.

High school students are invited to dive deeply into the arts at UC’s internationally renowned College-Conservatory of Music (CCM) this summer. CCM Preparatory and Community Engagement’s High School Arts Immersion workshops in June 2021, offer unparalleled arts experiences to students interested in everything from musical theatre to jazz.

The second episode of CCMONSTAGE Online is now available for on demand viewing. Originally broadcast on Friday, Feb. 12, this 30-minute-long virtual concert features CCM string quartet-in-residence the Ariel Quartet collaborating with master’s degree students Cristian Diaz and Denielle Wilson, who are also both second-year participants in CCM’s innovative Diversity Fellowship initiative with the Cincinnati Symphony Orchestra. This year, students at UC’s College-Conservatory of Music are producing live, multi-camera coverage of UC Athletic events for the new ESPN+ subscription-based streaming service. CCM E-Media students shared their first broadcast on Nov. 9, 2020, and have produced nine sports broadcasts in total so far.

Students from CCM's Theatre Design and Production department have worked to create personal portfolios to share their craft with the world. In addition to finding the best way to showcase their work, students have worked to create a consistent brand of their own throughout their materials. This Showcase serves as a recognition of their progress, and an opportunity for others to view the culmination of the work they have crafted.
