Recent CCM graduate Teresa Perrotta (MM Voice, ’19; AD Opera Performance, ’21) has barely left CCM’s halls, but her successful career is already beginning. She is the starring voice on a new album of John Corigliano’s The Ghost of Versailles, recorded after the production’s premiere at the Glimmerglass Festival in 2019 during its appearance at the Château du Versailles itself later that year. Current CCM doctoral pianist Jiao Sun took home the second prize and $5,000 from the Washington International Piano Competition in early June. Sun, who attended Eastman before moving to Cincinnati for her Artist Diploma and doctorate, studies with CCM Associate Professor of Piano Soyeon Kate Lee. For her performance, Sun prepared a a full recital program of works by Brahms, Vine, Haydn, Prokofiev and Bach.

The multimedia showcase allows industry insiders and the general public to see this year's seniors perform excerpts from TV programs, films, original works and more. UC College-Conservatory of Music Lighting Design and Technology student Eli Suarez was selected by the ACT Academy as a runner-up winner of its grandMA3 Programming Contest, wherein designers created virtual lighting shows using grandMA3 software. For his submission, Suarez created a light show to accompany The Killers’ hit song “Mr. Brightside.” Suarez is hoping that this win will lead to a bright future ahead.

Twenty-three current and incoming students competed for five coveted full-tuition scholarships and $50,000 in additional awards during CCM's 2021 Opera Scholarship Competition. Since its inauguration in 1976, this annual competition welcomes current and incoming CCM voice students to compete for scholarships and cash prizes. A panel of judges composed of opera industry professionals selects each year’s class of prizewinners.

Faculty and students at UC’s College-Conservatory of Music are collaborating on innovative multimedia projects in the CCM Idea Lab. The cross disciplinary class explores technical, artistic and philosophical questions to create short performance pieces that showcase the work of students and faculty from CCM Lighting Design and Technology, Sound Design and Technology, Technical Direction, Stage Management, Dance, Acting, Voice, Musical Theatre and Media Production.

The UC College-Conservatory of Music's virtual performance series premieres the Essentially Ellington Gala concert at 7:30 p.m. EDT on August 25. The performance features the CCM Jazz Orchestra performing Duke Ellington's Rockabye River, Launching Pad, Diminuendo/Crescendo in Blue and more.
