On Monday, April 16, actual construction begins on a completely solar-powered house designed and built by University of Cincinnati students all part of a prestigious international competition. The house raising will be held in front of UC s Braunstein Hall.

Twenty international universities were selected to participate in a contest to build the world s best solar house. Among them was the University of Cincinnati, and at UC, much of the planning for the house is complete. Now students are conducting prep work. Actual construction comes next.

For many months now, University of Cincinnati students have been laying the groundwork in terms of design, engineering and business planning in order to build a solar house. Come Monday, April 16, they ll begin to literally lay the floor and raise the walls during special ceremonies.
