The University of Cincinnati announced that John (Marty) Emmert, PhD, professor in the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering, will serve as interim dean for the College of Engineering and Applied Science. Emmert takes on the position June 1, as John Weidner, PhD, transitions from CEAS dean to his role as UC’s interim executive VP for academic affairs and provost.

The University of Cincinnati College of Engineering and Applied Science added 16 new faculty members in 2021. Four joined In January and 12 joined in August. The faculty additions marks the continued growth across the college.

University of Cincinnati’s Protégé Undergraduate Research Program gives first-year College of Engineering and Applied Science students early access to research experience through a paid summer position working with faculty researchers or industry partners.

Each year, the College of Engineering and Applied Science hosts the CEAS EXPO, a large-scale showcase event where graduating seniors present their final capstone projects to industry and alumni judges, family, friends, and fellow students. This year, the EXPO, presented by DRT Holdings, LLC, made a historic return to campus at Fifth Third Arena.

The University of Cincinnati's College of Engineering and Applied Science continues to expand with the addition of nineteen new faculty members in 2022. Two professors were announced in January. Seventeen faculty members joined CEAS at the start of the fall semester, including two new department heads: Ying Sun, head of the Department of Mechanical and Materials Engineering, and Justin Zhan, head of the newly established Department of Computer Science.
