Growth at UC brings largest first-year class ever

The University of Cincinnati recorded its largest enrollment ever this week as the official head count landed at 47,914 students for the fall semester. The figure represents nearly a 2.6% increase over last year’s enrollment or an additional 1,204 students.

UC student uses zebrafish to study spinal deformities

Oriana Zinani, a doctoral student in molecular developmental biology at the University of Cincinnati, is part of a team of researchers using zebrafish embryos to study a gene mutation that causes scoliosis, a sideways curvature of the spine that typically occurs in humans just before puberty.

UC college uses 3D ‘task trainers’ for virtual instruction

The UC College of Nursing has partnered with the UC 1819 Innovation Hub and a suburban Cincinnati company to provide 3D-printed task trainers. These lifelike models of human body parts such as an anatomical replica of a hand, arm, knee or torso provide hands-on training critical for skill development, one of the biggest challenges of educating students in health care fields during the COVID-19 pandemic.
