Get to know the new managing assistant director of CCM Prep
Spring Pillow is an experienced performing artist, teacher and administrator
CCM Prep welcomes new leadership this semester: Spring Starr Pillow assumed the role of Managing Assistant Director of CCM Prep on Monday, April 3, 2023.
CCM staff member Spring Pillow.
Pillow graduated from Northern Kentucky University with a degree in Musical Theatre Performance and she holds master's degree credits from the University of Cincinnati in Education and Counseling. Prior to joining CCM, she was employed as the director of school programming for Wordplay Cincy.
Pillow is a very active part of the initiative to combine theatre and education. She has developed several afterschool and in-school workshops combining curriculum and drama in tristate area schools. Pillow has worked for many tristate theatres—including Ensemble Theatre, Children’s Theatre of Cincinnati, Covedale Theatre and The Showboat Majestic—and she was a featured cabaret performer at The Celestial. Pillow has also had the privilege of singing and writing with David Kisor, a prolific children’s songwriter, on several nationally recognized CDs and play projects through Growing Sound.
In her spare time, Pillow enjoys writing poetry, short stories, plays and music, rehabbing old homes, singing with her band No Guarantees whenever possible, and spending time with her boys—Nick, Eli and Max—and her dogs, Sophie and Herman.
"We are extremely excited to have someone with Spring's experience join our team in CCM Prep," said Assistant Dean and Director of CCM Prep Anne Cushing-Reid. "Spring will be joining us after spending four years as the Director of School Programming with WordPlay Cincinnati. Before holding that position, she spent over a decade teaching Music and Drama at area elementary and high schools. Please join me in welcoming her to the CCM family!"
Pillow's search committee was chaired by Cushing-Reid and included Joyce Grabell, Lauren Magee, Todd Pettiford and Tricia Sundbeck.
