UC College-Conservatory of Music Interim Dean Jonathan Kregor has announced the addition of acclaimed hornist Margaret Tung to the college’s roster of distinguished performing and media arts faculty members. Hailed as “masterly” in the Chicago Classical Review and “spot on at every moment” in the Cleveland Plain Dealer, Tung begins her appointment as CCM Associate Professor of Horn on Aug. 15, 2023.

UC College-Conservatory of Music Associate Professor of Horn Denise Tryon is the 2022 winner of The American Prize in Instrumental Performance in the professional division. Tryon was selected from applications reviewed from all across the United States.

The University of Cincinnati College-Conservatory of Music congratulates Steven Cahn, Professor of Music Theory, on his receipt of the prestigious 2023 Outstanding Publication Award. Representing the highest honor awarded by the Society for Music Theory, this distinction was given to Cahn’s recent article “Schoenberg, Al-Kindī, and the Unbound Braid: A Rendezvous in Barcelona a Thousand Years in the Making” (Musical Quarterly, vol. 104, nos. 3–4, 2021).

The New York Times recently featured the East Coast premiere of "Blind Injustice," an opera based on true exonerations achieved by the Ohio Innocence Project. The production opened on Feb. 16 , 2024, at Peak Performances at Montclair State University. Premiered in 2019 at Cincinnati Opera, the opera was first workshopped through Opera Fusion: New Works (OF:NW), a collaboration between Cincinnati Opera and UC College-Conservatory of Music.

Romanstein has announced the addition of acclaimed violinist Kristin Lee to the college’s roster of distinguished performing and media arts faculty members. Romanstein has announced the addition of accomplished oboist Titus Underwood to the college’s roster of distinguished performing and media arts faculty members. Principal Oboe of the Nashville Symphony Orchestra, Underwood is an Emmy Award-winner and a 2021 recipient of the Sphinx Medal of Excellence Award. His new appointment as Associate Professor of Oboe at CCM begins on Aug. 15, 2021.

An accomplished theatre and television professional, Lawson’s appointment as Assistant Professor of Lighting Design and Technology begins on Aug. 15, 2021.

Winner of this year’s George Rieveschl Jr. Award for Creative and/or Scholarly Works, Catherine Losada has been on the UC College-Conservatory of Music faculty as a Professor of Music Theory since 2004. One of the most notable aspects of Losada’s research, which often examines 20th-century music, is its ability to cross national, cultural and disciplinary divides.
