Led by Director of Wind Studies Kevin Michael Holzman, the concert features works by Kevin Day, Andrea Tarrodi, Samuel Barber, Joaquin Rodrigo and Richard Strauss.

When did the COVID-19 pandemic first make an impact on your life? March 10? That was the day the University of Cincinnati decided to change something it has excelled at for 200 years. Teaching. Educating. That day UC announced that all lectures in classrooms, experiments in labs or designing in studios would be suspended. Students started what was expected to be just an extended spring break, but then 12 days later all courses had gone virtual to protect the university community and stop the virus’s spread.

UC journalism grad uses media studies to carve path to success

This familiarity, and the opportunities offered from the College of Arts and Sciences, are why she chose to earn her degree at UC—and landed a dream role with The Cincinnati Enquirer. Rice graduated from UC in August, 2019 with a double major in journalism and digital media collaborative with a certificate in screenwriting. During her time at UC, she expanded her professional experience through opportunities offered directly from A&S and UC as a whole.

CCM Musical Theatre shares Freshman Showcase

June 30, 2021

The Freshman Musical Theatre class at UC’s College-Conservatory of Music marked the conclusion of their first year in the BFA program with a virtual showcase titled “Wake Up.” The performance features a variety of student-curated monologues and performances that were shot on location at Cincinnati theatres, parks and museums.

CCM pianist awarded second prize in performance competition

June 15, 2021

Current CCM doctoral pianist Jiao Sun took home the second prize and $5,000 from the Washington International Piano Competition in early June. Sun, who attended Eastman before moving to Cincinnati for her Artist Diploma and doctorate, studies with CCM Associate Professor of Piano Soyeon Kate Lee. For her performance, Sun prepared a a full recital program of works by Brahms, Vine, Haydn, Prokofiev and Bach.
