The CCM Philharmonia reunites on the stage of Corbett Auditorium to present a socially-distanced virtual performance. Led by Director of Orchestral Studies Mark Gibson, the concert also features a performance by mezzo-soprano and CCM Professor Quinn Patrick Ankrum, DMA. Watch the performance video today. The Ariel Quartet, UC College-Conservatory of Music’s String Quartet-in-Residence, continues its season Tuesday, Nov 21 at 7:30 p.m. in Werner Recital Hall. Alessio Bax, the award-winning Italian pianist, joins Ariel for the program’s finale: Dvořák’s Piano Quintet in A major, widely regarded as one of the masterpieces of the form. Tickets are on sale now through the CCM Box Office.

The Ariel Quartet returns to the stage 7:30 p.m. Tuesday, Feb. 13 in Robert J. Werner Recital Hall at CCM. Titled “Cetera Desunt: The rest is missing,” the program features the eponymous string quartet by Lera Auerbach, as well as the composer’s string quartet No. 10, “Frozen Dreams” and Schubert’s beloved “Trout” Quintet. UC College-Conservatory of Music alum Carlos García León (MA/MBA, '16) and current MM Voice student Jaime Sharp were selected as inaugural participants in the Mentorship Program for Opera Leaders of Color. This new initiative exists to advance racial equity in the field by pairing BIPOC professionals with executive-level leaders who can support them in achieving their career goals.

Congratulations to two UC College-Conservatory of Music students who are semi-finalists in the Leonard Falcone International Euphonium and Tuba Festival, which is recognized as the premier event of its kind. When the virtual competition resumes in August, rising sophomore Caroline Habig will compete in the tuba student division and second-year master’s student Xianquan will compete in the tuba artist division.
