It's No Picnic-in-the-Park...But a Picnic-in-the-Parking Space for Design Students

Architecture and planning students turned picnicking pranksters for a day picnicking in a metered parking space on a busy downtown street, on a six-lane roadway median and on the courthouse steps. They and other students found creative ways to test and stretch the social boundaries of public spaces to find ways to improve Cincinnati s public events.

UC Designers Craft Award-Winning Benches but Have No Plans to Rest on Their Laurels

Faculty and students in UC s College of Design, Architecture, Art, and Planning are branching out from the classroom. A small group are designing and building benches for local parks out of trees downed in storms or out of wood from demolished buildings. Their work just received a first-place prize from Keep Cincinnati Beautiful.

Josh Osborn sketched out his future when he was 10 years old. That's when the farm boy, wearing his heart on his sleeve, sent off his best sketches to Vogue magazine and to New York designer Isaac Mizrahi. Now, 12 years later, Josh is fashioning a dream-come-true by going to work for Mizrahi during a winter quarter co-op.

The Art of Simple Living to Show in New York, Thanks to UC Sculptor

University of Cincinnati fine artist Matt Lynch is helping to lead a team that will begin work on a site-specific art structure in February at New York s Whitney Museum of American Art. The work will then be included in the Whitney s prestigious biennial that opens March 11.

UC Students Shoot for Winning Basketball Designs

Plans are underway for a Greater Cincinnati Basketball Hall of Fame. The first step to making the project a reality is an all-day design workshop at the University of Cincinnati on Jan. 10.
