Co-op leads to full-time job for civil engineering student

Tanner Alley, civil engineering student, landed a full-time job thanks to his experience in the University of Cincinnati cooperative education program that is integrated into the engineering undergraduate curriculum. Alley was named Undergraduate Engineer of the Month by the UC College of Engineering and Applied Science.

Students make mark in home builders competition

A team of University of Cincinnati students placed third in the National Association of Home Builders competition. The UC team comprised students from construction management, architectural engineering and civil engineering majors within the College of Engineering and Applied Science and real estate and marketing majors in the Carl H. Lindner College of Business as they played the role of a regional home building firm. Fischer Homes advised the team.

New Builders Competition serves as a primer to construction industry

The University of Cincinnati Construction Competition Club hosts the annual New Builders Competition for students from UC and other schools in the region. Students interested in the construction industry compete by creating a proposal as if they were the construction company bidding for a job in one of three categories: commercial, residential and heavy civil.

Civil engineering student aims to connect construction and community

Ever since he was a child, Joseph Cortas was enthralled by the energy of construction sites. While his initial fascination centered on large trucks, his childhood interest sent him down a path of professional and personal discovery. Today, Cortas is a fourth-year student concurrently pursuing bachelor’s and master’s degrees in civil engineering through the ACCEND accelerated degree program at the University of Cincinnati College of Engineering and Applied Science (CEAS).

Hong Kong to UC to New York City

Mark Woo came to Cincinnati from Hong Kong when he was 17 years old. Now, he is set to graduate from UC next May with both bachelor's and master's degrees in architectural engineering.
