Breaking barriers: the CSO/CCM Diversity Fellowship program

The CSO/CCM Diversity Fellowship program provides an immersion into the professional world they all aspire to and the chance to be mentored by some of the best string players in the country. This extraordinary opportunity, funded by The Andrew W. Mellon Foundation, is also about removing the barriers that have previously prevented amazing musicians such as the current class of Diversity Fellows from achieving their dreams. Launched in 2015, the program has accepted four classes of Fellows and will welcome a fifth class in fall 2020.

CSO and CCM announce 2020-22 class of Diversity Fellows

The University of Cincinnati College-Conservatory of Music (CCM) and the Cincinnati Symphony Orchestra (CSO) have selected five outstanding musicians for their next class of CSO/CCM Diversity Fellows. Born out of a mutual desire to help American orchestras be more inclusive and to better represent the communities they serve, the performance fellowship program was launched in 2015 with a generous grant from The Andrew W. Mellon Foundation.

All of the Above ensemble of CCM alumni releases debut album

September 1, 2020

Cincinnati-based contemporary chamber group All of the Above recently released its much-anticipated debut album, Double Portrait, which is available for purchase via Amazon. The album features works by two American composers, Edward Smaldone and UC College-conservatory of Music’s Norman Dinerstein Professor of Composition Scholar Douglas Knehans, and the ensemble itself is comprised entirely of CCM alumni.

CCM and the Cincinnati Symphony Orchestra announce 2019-21 class of Diversity Fellows

CCM and the Cincinnati Symphony Orchestra (CSO) have selected five outstanding musicians for the next class of CSO/CCM Diversity Fellows. Born out of a mutual desire to make American orchestras more inclusive, this prestigious performance fellowship program was launched in 2015 with a generous grant from The Andrew W. Mellon Foundation. The Foundation approved a renewal grant of $850,000 in 2017, providing funding for the innovative program through June 2021.
