National rankings highlight UC’s co-op program, innovation

The University of Cincinnati’s co-op program stands at No. 4 in the U.S. News & World Report’s latest rankings, continuing its historical placement among the top five co-op programs in the country — and No. 1 for co-op among public universities. The latest 2023 issue of the magazine’s influential “Best Colleges” guide ranks UC in the top tier, including among the “most innovative among national universities,” (No. 68) — UC’s first-ever ranking in that category.

In the middle of his final semester at UC’s College-Conservatory of Music, orchestral conducting student Jeremy Robin Lyons found himself in a new world that deprived him — for now — of the communal experience of making music with other people in person. The pandemic canceled performances, forced classes to move online and separated loved ones, but Robins was hopeful and set out to create a virtual choir and orchestra project that united musicians online.

Nationally recognized partnership between CCM and Cincinnati Opera receives new grant funding from The Andrew W. Mellon Foundation

Cincinnati Opera recently announced that it was awarded a $1.3 million grant from The Andrew W. Mellon Foundation. In addition to providing key financial support for a new artistic initiative by Cincinnati Opera to commission operas that celebrate Black stories, the gift will also fund the continuation of Opera Fusion: New Works, the groundbreaking workshop program from Cincinnati Opera and CCM that supports the development of new operas.
