Biomedical engineering student driven to help others

University of Cincinnati biomedical engineering student Linda Yoder was named Engineer of the Month by the College of Engineering and Applied Science at UC. Yoder has co-op internship experience at medical device companies Cook Medical and Vein360. She's maximized her time at UC in student groups including Engineers Without Borders, Mortar Board, Out in STEM and Makers Club.

UC’s Olympic poetry in motion

Five former University of Cincinnati athletes and one current second-year student prepare to compete in the 2021 Tokyo Olympics in July and August, representing four nations in five athletic competitions. Former Bearcats include Annette Echikunwoke, hammer throw (Nigeria); Vanessa Gilles, women's soccer (Canada); Nate Fish, baseball (Israel); Jordan Thompson, volleyball (U.S.) and Lewis Johnson (NBC Sports TV broadcaster). Lawrence Sapp, second-year UC student will compete in the Paralympic swim competition in late August.

CCM Piano student wins second place at NFMC Competition

The University of Cincinnati College-Conservatory of Music is proud to share that one of its current master’s degree students, Robert Brooks Carlson, won second prize and $5,000 at the National Federation of Music Clubs (NFMC) Young Artist Competition. Carlson studies with CCM Associate Professor of Piano Soyeon Kate Lee, who was recognized earlier this year with UC’s Mrs. AB Dolly Cohen Award for Excellence in Teaching.

CCM alum and student join OPERA America's Inaugural Mentorship Program for Opera Leaders of Color

UC College-Conservatory of Music alum Carlos García León (MA/MBA, '16) and current MM Voice student Jaime Sharp were selected as inaugural participants in the Mentorship Program for Opera Leaders of Color. This new initiative exists to advance racial equity in the field by pairing BIPOC professionals with executive-level leaders who can support them in achieving their career goals.

Local 12: 180 UC med students receive white coats, students embark on journey during pandemic

August 9, 2021

The University of Cincinnati College of Medicine welcomed 180 newly admitted first-year students during the college’s 26th annual White Coat Ceremony. The ceremony was held Friday at 10 a.m. at Cincinnati Music Hall, 1241 Elm Street. Each member of the class of 2025 were presented with a white lab coat, symbolizing entry into the medical profession. Local 12 covered the event.

Virtual engineering class reimagines global collaboration

The COVID-19 pandemic resulted in a forced pause to the usual international travel experiences at the University of Cincinnati. In response to a call for innovative ideas for virtual global experiences, Cedrick Kwuimy, assistant professor-educator in UC’s Department of Engineering Education, devised a program to give first-year engineering students some of the same growth opportunities they would have with a study abroad or work abroad program. UC students collaborated virtually with students at University of Cape Coast in Ghana and at Bahir Dar University in Ethiopia
