Deciding what to wear soon could be a lot easier thanks to a virtual closet and personal styling app being created by a team led by a University of Cincinnati business student. Camryn Ellis, a third-year senior who plans to graduate in August, is creating an app that provides custom outfit recommendations and the ability to try on clothes virtually. With the app, Sty/e (pronounced style), she was one of the three winners of a pitch competition hosted by Main Street Ventures, called 2023 Launch It: Cincy.

RYN is a startup launched by a University of Cincinnati alumna that aims to make fashion more accessible with a virtual closet and personal styling app.

Students in UC’s Judaic studies class, Teaching and Remembering Trauma: Designing Holocaust and Genocide Education, took a first-hand look at the story of Holocaust survivor Fritzie Fritzshall and her experiences at Auschwitz-Birkenau, thanks to virtual reality (VR) technology provided by the Illinois Holocaust Museum and Education Center. UC is one of the first colleges granted exclusive access to the museum’s traveling set of VR headsets. Alexis Morrisroe, adjunct instructor in the Judaic Studies program, secured access to the VR headsets through her prior role as a youth educator at the museum from June 2008 to April 2020. Seizing the opportunity, the department became one of the first schools participating in the soft launch.

The local program has historically placed in the top 5 co-op programs in the country. Its reputation is enough to attract students from all over the world, reports the Cincinnati Enquirer.
