The UC College-Conservatory of Music’s Spring 2023 Concert Series continues this week with performances by some of the college’s premier ensembles. The CCM Wind Symphony, CCM Philharmonia and CCM Jazz Orchestra return to the stage of Corbett Auditorium this week.

On May 22, 2011, the CCM Jazz Ensemble was joined by Grammy Award-nominee, National Endowment for the Arts Jazz Master and Kennedy Center “Living Legend of Jazz” Gerald Wilson (1918-2014) for an unforgettable evening of big band music. The concert also featured the talents of Mary Ellen Tanner (1946-2014), a renowned jazz vocalist who taught at CCM for many years.

The University of Cincinnati College-Conservatory of Music's Orchestral and Choral programs unite to present J.S. Bach’s St. Mathew Passion at 7:30 p.m. on Saturday, Oct. 28, 2023 in Corbett Auditorium. Featuring the work of students, faculty and guest artists, the staged performance retells the story of the events leading up to the trial of Jesus, his crucifixion and burial.

The Ariel Quartet presents its final CCM concert of the 2023-24 season at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday, March 26 in Robert J. Werner Recital Hall. The program includes two of the most beloved works in the chamber music canon: Beethoven’s intense Op. 59 No. 1 and Brahms’ Clarinet Quintet in B Minor, featuring faculty artist Pavel Vinnitsky. The United States Coast Guard Band brings its "Heartland Harmonies" concert tour to UC's College-Conservatory of Music on Tuesday, June 25, 2024. The free concert is presented in Corbett Auditorium as part of the band's tour through the American South and Midwest regions for public performances and educational outreach.

CCM’s Music Theory and Musicology Society hosts its ninth biennial student conference designed to engage both UC students and students from other institutions in the broad field of music scholarship. The hybrid-format conference features keynote speakers Julianne Grasso (University of Texas at Austin) and Imani Mosley (University of Florida) and student paper presentations. This year’s conference also includes two workshops led by CCM ethnomusicologists Stefan Fiol and Scott Linford.

The Ariel Quartet, UC College-Conservatory of Music’s String Quartet-in-Residence, continues its season Tuesday, Nov 21 at 7:30 p.m. in Werner Recital Hall. Alessio Bax, the award-winning Italian pianist, joins Ariel for the program’s finale: Dvořák’s Piano Quintet in A major, widely regarded as one of the masterpieces of the form. The Ariel Quartet returns to the stage 7:30 p.m. Tuesday, Feb. 13 in Robert J. Werner Recital Hall at CCM. Titled “Cetera Desunt: The rest is missing,” the program features the eponymous string quartet by Lera Auerbach, as well as the composer’s string quartet No. 10, “Frozen Dreams” and Schubert’s beloved “Trout” Quintet.
