UC Family Weekend marks 20 years, drawing more than 6,000 participants to campus

UC Family Weekend, Sept. 20-22, attracted more than 6,000 parents, siblings and supporters of UC students. Attendance set a record for an event that marked its 20th anniversary and showcased 50 different activities. The UC versus University of Houston Cougars football game was among the weekend highlights. The Bearcats packed Nippert Stadium and won 34-0.

Nippert Stadium: The 1940s

When the 1940s arrived in Cincinnati, the Bearcats were competing without a conference. Gone were the days of head coaches Dana King and Russ Cohen. London Gant’s career had long since been ended by a string of unfortunate injuries. After a 37-16-1 tear through the first half of the 1930s, the program collapsed to a 9-23-5 mark to close out the decade.

Alumni set to return for UC Homecoming

Plan ahead for UC Homecoming activities

As the calendar flipped to the 1990s in Cincinnati, the entire program hung in the balance. From 1982-88, UC football played 20 home games at Riverfront Stadium while fighting for I-A eligibility and navigating a crumbling stadium in Clifton.
