CCM faculty member Elliot Madore opens up about identity in new film project

Acclaimed baritone and CCM Associate Professor of Voice Elliot Madore stars in Identity: A Song Cycle, a new film from Against the Grain Theatre directed by Joel Ivany. The film, which was released on Oct. 23, features the performance of five new songs—with music by composer Dinuk Wijeratne and original poetry by Shauntay Grant—and is currently available to stream on Against the Grain Theatre’s website.

CCM hosts daylong Trombone Summit for aspiring musicians of all abilities

CCM professor wins Outstanding Publication Award from Society of Music Theory

The University of Cincinnati College-Conservatory of Music congratulates Steven Cahn, Professor of Music Theory, on his receipt of the prestigious 2023 Outstanding Publication Award. Representing the highest honor awarded by the Society for Music Theory, this distinction was given to Cahn’s recent article “Schoenberg, Al-Kindī, and the Unbound Braid: A Rendezvous in Barcelona a Thousand Years in the Making” (Musical Quarterly, vol. 104, nos. 3–4, 2021).

Ariel Quartet joined by award-winning pianist in Nov. 21 concert

The Ariel Quartet, UC College-Conservatory of Music’s String Quartet-in-Residence, continues its season Tuesday, Nov 21 at 7:30 p.m. in Werner Recital Hall. Alessio Bax, the award-winning Italian pianist, joins Ariel for the program’s finale: Dvořák’s Piano Quintet in A major, widely regarded as one of the masterpieces of the form. UC expert helps museum's 'Pompeii' come to life

February 13, 2024

University of Cincinnati Classics Professor Steven Ellis last year published the first of four historical volumes on his work as director of excavations at Pompeii’s Porta Stabia neighborhood. Now he is lending his expertise to a new exhibit on Pompeii at the Cincinnati Museum Center. “Pompeii: The Exhibition” opens at the museum on Feb. 16. It features 150 priceless artifacts from the ancient city.

Ariel Quartet collaborates with two guest artists in February 13 concert

The Ariel Quartet returns to the stage 7:30 p.m. Tuesday, Feb. 13 in Robert J. Werner Recital Hall at CCM. Titled “Cetera Desunt: The rest is missing,” the program features the eponymous string quartet by Lera Auerbach, as well as the composer’s string quartet No. 10, “Frozen Dreams” and Schubert’s beloved “Trout” Quintet. Tickets are on sale through the CCM Box Office.

New York Times spotlights East Coast premiere of 'Blind Injustice'

The New York Times recently featured the East Coast premiere of "Blind Injustice," an opera based on true exonerations achieved by the Ohio Innocence Project. The production opened on Feb. 16 , 2024, at Peak Performances at Montclair State University. Premiered in 2019 at Cincinnati Opera, the opera was first workshopped through Opera Fusion: New Works (OF:NW), a collaboration between Cincinnati Opera and UC College-Conservatory of Music.
