The University of Cincinnati has entered a partnership with the video workflow company Latakoo. Used by broadcasters around the world, the platform first became available in the classroom to aspiring journalists in UC’s College of Arts and Sciences this semester. It is the first such educational partnership for Latakoo, which will be used to train students on industry-standard video workflow to produce news stories, with an eye toward giving UC journalism graduates an edge in an increasingly competitive market, as the industry needs more multimedia-trained journalists.

He was unsure about the practicality of that degree, and his ability to pay off his future student loans through it.

UC’s media bureau course recently set up a news network broadcast as an opportunity for journalism students to gain experience in their chosen track and in the most practical portions of the field. Zachary Jarrell came to the University of Cincinnati in 2019 to pursue a degree in statistics. In 2023, he graduated with a Bachelor’s in Journalism. For many undergraduates, the journey through college rarely takes the expected track. Detours happen, and majors change. When plans switch up, it can be helpful to a student’s success to find support. For Jarrell, it was the people he worked alongside in the journalism department who helped him on his journey. It has left a lasting impression on his life so far, guiding him to multiple internships as an undergraduate, real-world experience in prominent news outlets, and eventually a successful career in the highly competitive field of journalism.
