The second episode of CCMONSTAGE Online is now available for on demand viewing. Originally broadcast on Friday, Feb. 12, this 30-minute-long virtual concert features CCM string quartet-in-residence the Ariel Quartet collaborating with master’s degree students Cristian Diaz and Denielle Wilson, who are also both second-year participants in CCM’s innovative Diversity Fellowship initiative with the Cincinnati Symphony Orchestra. Watch this mini-documentary by CCM Media Production to get an inside look at the dazzling collaboration between the college's Theatre Design and Production department and Hughes STEM High School art students. In spring 2021, UC College-Conservatory of Music Theatre Design and Production students partnered with Hughes STEM High School art students on a light show that was projected onto Hughes’ beautiful and historic façade. Themed around Afrofuturism and visions of the future, the project is supported of Prestige AV, Vincent Lighting Systems, Lightborne Communications and UC Forward.

The Cincinnati Symphony Orchestra (CSO) and the UC College-Conservatory of Music (CCM) are proud to announce recent successes of their CSO/CCM Diversity Fellowship program. Established in 2015 and launched with a grant from The Mellon Foundation, the nationally-recognized program amplifies and supports extraordinary young string players from populations historically underrepresented in American orchestras through a specialized, two-year graduate degree-level education, professional development and mainstage performance opportunities with the Cincinnati Symphony Orchestra. Four CSO/CCM Diversity Fellows have obtained full-time positions with major American orchestras for the 2022-23 season; additional Diversity Fellows successes include careers in music education, social change and orchestral administration.

Cincinnati news station FOX 19 interviewed UC College-Conservatory of Music E-Media Professor Hagit Limor about the innovative “Hope After Hate” project she is leading at CCM. Inspired by her own father’s experience during the Holocaust, Limor set out to create an immersive theatre and virtual reality project that shares his story with lessons to inspire action against acts of hatred and bigotry today.

The Ariel Quartet, UC College-Conservatory of Music’s String Quartet-in-Residence, continues its season Tuesday, Nov 21 at 7:30 p.m. in Werner Recital Hall. Alessio Bax, the award-winning Italian pianist, joins Ariel for the program’s finale: Dvořák’s Piano Quintet in A major, widely regarded as one of the masterpieces of the form. Tickets are on sale now through the CCM Box Office.

UC College-Conservatory of Music graduate student Leo De La Cruz won the CCM Wind Studies concerto competition and he achieved an honorable mention at the 2020 Yamaha Young Performing Artists Competition. Most recently, he won the National Federation of Music Clubs’ Carolyn Nelson Double Reed Award, which includes a $1,250 cash prize.
