Nonsmoking Lung Cancer Survivor Encourages Others to Consider Risk

Carol Seibert was devastated when a chest X-ray revealed a 2-inch mass in the middle of her right lung. A lung biopsy and advanced imaging tests confirmed stage 1A non-small cell lung cancer. Seibert is a nonsmoker, but she was exposed to secondhand smoke throughout her childhood and in the workplace.

Davidson Named to NIH Study Section

Sean Davidson, PhD, professor in the pathology and laboratory medicine department, has been selected to serve as a member of the Integrative Nutrition and Metabolic Processes Study Section of the Center for Scientific Review at the National Institutes of Health. He will serve in this role from July 1, 2012, through June 30, 2015.

UC College of Medicine Awards 3 With Drake Medals

The Daniel Drake Medal was first awarded in 1985 during the celebration of the 200th anniversary of the birth of the UC College of Medicine s founder, pioneering physician Daniel Drake. The award, considered to be the highest honor bestowed by the College of Medicine, is given annually to honor distinguished living faculty and alumni.
