CCM professor wins Outstanding Publication Award from Society of Music Theory

The University of Cincinnati College-Conservatory of Music congratulates Steven Cahn, Professor of Music Theory, on his receipt of the prestigious 2023 Outstanding Publication Award. Representing the highest honor awarded by the Society for Music Theory, this distinction was given to Cahn’s recent article “Schoenberg, Al-Kindī, and the Unbound Braid: A Rendezvous in Barcelona a Thousand Years in the Making” (Musical Quarterly, vol. 104, nos. 3–4, 2021).

CCM students star in celebrated Mozart opera 'The Marriage of Figaro'

The UC College-Conservatory of Music Undergraduate Opera program (also known as Opera d'arte) presented a nearly sold-out run of Mozart’s "The Marriage of Figaro" on February 15-17 , 2024 in Cohen Family Studio Theater. Starring an acclaimed student cast, the opera featured a variety of undergraduates who recently won a variety of awards and prestigious honors.

Business Courier: Retiring faculty member Earl Rivers looks back on nearly 50 years at CCM

Janelle Gelfand recently interviewed retiring faculty member Earl Rivers for the Cincinnati Business Courier. In the profile piece, Rivers discusses his musical background and shares some of his favorite performances at CCM. He also discusses his work with incoming Director of Choral Studies Joe Miller to prepare for 2020-21. “In partnership with my current colleague, Brett Scott (professor of ensembles and conducting), I think they’ll take CCM to even greater heights,” Rivers said of his successor.
