UC's new drone research comes with a catch

University of Cincinnati researchers have developed a semi-autonomous drone that is moored to the ground and can be operated more safely by virtually anyone. No piloting skills are required. Operators simply move the tether to move the drone.

UC grant will increase training of clinicians to work with at-risk youth

October 19, 2021

A nearly $2 million grant to the University of Cincinnati’s College of Allied Health Sciences will establish the UC Bear-CAT Fellowship Program. The goal of the project is to increase the number of adequately prepared graduate-level behavioral health clinicians entering and continuing practice with at-risk children, adolescents and transitional-age youth (ages 18-24) in the Greater Cincinnati region.

Student hackathon leads to marketable startup

The Cincinnati Innovation District ® (CID) and UC’s 1819 Innovation Hub corporate partner FIS held a national student hackathon tasking teams with solving financial inclusion challenges many people face every day. The competition's winning team from Wisconsin took their concept, an app designed to help underprivileged people gain financial independence, through UC's Venture Lab pre-accelerator cohort 16 to successfully bring their startup to market.

UC reactor makes Martian fuel

UC College of Engineering and Applied Science assistant professor Jingjie Wu and his students used a carbon catalyst in a reactor to convert carbon dioxide into methane. The new processes promise to help scientists address climate change and provide fuel for astronauts traveling back from Mars.

Sky’s not the limit in student innovation challenge

Cincinnati Innovation District, University of Cincinnati's 1819 Innovation Hub host the second FlyOhio Vertiport Innovation Challenge, inviting students from institutions across the state of Ohio. Thirteen teams from six colleges presented concepts for Advanced Air Mobility vertiports focusing on how medical or cargo transport would benefit the community, sustain itself and create more than 15,000 new jobs and convert existing jobs.
