Ariel Quartet collaborates with two guest artists in February 13 concert

The Ariel Quartet returns to the stage 7:30 p.m. Tuesday, Feb. 13 in Robert J. Werner Recital Hall at CCM. Titled “Cetera Desunt: The rest is missing,” the program features the eponymous string quartet by Lera Auerbach, as well as the composer’s string quartet No. 10, “Frozen Dreams” and Schubert’s beloved “Trout” Quintet. Tickets are on sale through the CCM Box Office.

Listen: Cincy Playhouse shares CCM audio plays

Each audio play is its own story, and you can listen to these pieces for free in any order you choose. They represent a year-long collaboration that reached into many corners of Cincinnati. Students from all over UC (CCM Acting, Sound Design, Stage Management, Commercial Music Production, Digital Media, and the College of Arts & Sciences’ Fiction PhD program) and local professional writers (YA author Liz Coley and musician, comedian and raconteur Paul Strickland) came together to make something truly special. Paul Strickland's play will be available soon. The Playhouse is assisting CCM by hosting and helping to promote these free audio plays.

CCM's Music Theory and Musicology Society hosts student conference March 4-5, 2022

CCM’s Music Theory and Musicology Society hosts its ninth biennial student conference designed to engage both UC students and students from other institutions in the broad field of music scholarship. The hybrid-format conference features keynote speakers Julianne Grasso (University of Texas at Austin) and Imani Mosley (University of Florida) and student paper presentations. This year’s conference also includes two workshops led by CCM ethnomusicologists Stefan Fiol and Scott Linford.

Feast of Carols features holiday hits, local choirs in concert Dec. 2-3

UC College-Conservatory of Music welcomes the holiday season on Dec. 2-3, 2023 with Feast of Carols, an annual concert featuring festive choral favorites performed by the CCM Chamber Choir, Chorale and Graduate Brass Quintet; UC Choruses, Cincinnati Youth Choir and outstanding guest choirs from local high schools.

CCM expands global network with more opportunites for faculty and students

UC’s College-Conservatory of Music (CCM) is elevating its international reputation by creating and expanding opportunities for faculty and students to work and study abroad. “We want our students and faculty to be part of a global network of alumni and artists — to experience other cultures, other languages and other ways of looking at and creating art,” says CCM Dean Stanley E. Romanstein. “CCM is cultivating these opportunities so we can provide students with more hands-on learning experiences that prepare them to take the next steps in their lives and careers.”

Learning online: A look at CCM's remote instruction

The University of Cincinnati has moved to remote operations during the COVID-19 pandemic, meaning that classes are now being held online through tools like Zoom, WebEx, Skype and even FaceTime. Although this university-wide transition to remote learning is new, many College-Conservatory of Music faculty members have been hosting virtual video lessons for students all over the world for several years.

CCM staff member recognized for community engagement work in Dada Rafiki celebration

Internationally respected and award-winning artist/poet Annie Ruth hosts a program of entertainment and inspiration in "Dada Rafiki: Conversations," streamed virtually on YouTube, Facebook and Instagram at 7 p.m. on Friday, Nov. 20, 2020. Presented in collaboration with the Cincinnati Arts Association, Cincinnati Opera and the Power of Her, the annual event is a multi-sensory artistic experience of dance, music, poetry and song. It shares the empowering stories of inspirational women who positively impact the community, including 2020 Dada Rafiki Honoree Anne Cushing-Reid, Interim Director of Preparatory and Community Engagement at UC's College-Conservatory of Music.
