UC engineering students win aircraft design competition

Each year, the Merlin Flight Simulation Group holds an aircraft design and handling competition for university students. For the competition, students, individually or in groups, are tasked with creating and designing an aircraft that can fly. This year, a group of 16 University of Cincinnati senior aerospace engineering students from the College of Engineering and Applied Science (CEAS) entered their supersonic business jet in the competition and won.

UC partners with French university to offer dual degree

UC engineer explores more efficient propulsion for aircraft

At UC, he has been involved in teaching and research, on-campus activities such as serving as the president of the Nepalese Student Association and the vice president of the Aerospace Engineering Graduate Student Government. He was named Graduate Student Engineer of the Month by the College of Engineering and Applied Science.

UC engineer designs robots to fix satellites

The path to higher education looks different for every student. For doctoral student Andrew Barth, the inspiration to pursue a Ph.D. came after fifteen years in the aerospace engineering industry. While at the University of Cincinnati, Barth has been involved in several professional conferences, high school and undergraduate outreach programs, and was recently named Graduate Student Engineer of the Month by the College of Engineering and Applied Science.

Aerospace engineer studying electric aircraft battery health

After earning his bachelor’s in mechanical engineering from the University of the Basque Country (EHU) in his home country of Spain, graduate student Jon Ander Martin came to the University of Cincinnati through a dual degree partnership between the two universities. Inspired by a lifelong fascination with aviation, he earned his master’s in aerospace engineering and continued at UC for his Ph.D. program. His research project focuses on battery health management of Unmanned Aerial Vehicles for space exploration. He works under the guidance of Kelly Cohen, professor of aerospace engineering, and was selected as Graduate Student Engineer of the Month by the College of Engineering and Applied Science.
