UC s Theresa Leininger-Miller will present her research on 19th century African American daguerreotypist J.P. Ball at a Sept. 30-Oct. 2 conference focusing on the life and era of Harriet Beecher Stowe. Both Stowe and Ball had Cincinnati ties.

Uncle Tom s Cabin, the best-selling novel of the 19th century, has had an enduring impact on film and popular culture. In a year when we observe the 200th anniversary of author Harriet Beecher Stowe s birth, a UC researcher is presenting on the novel s impact, interpretation and reinterpretation on the silver screen.

UC's industrial design program won the Greater Cincinnati Venture Award for Partner Participation in the recent 2011 Cincinnati Innovates contest. The award was presented to the UC design program in recognition of the number and quality of entries from the program since Cincinnati Innovates began in 2009.
