UC engineering professor named highly cited researcher

Dionysios (Dion) Dionysiou, University of Cincinnati professor of environmental engineering, was named a 2022 Highly Cited Researcher by Clarivate for the fifth consecutive year for his research work developing technologies and strategies to identify, monitor and treat water pollutants and toxins, including PFAS and cyanotoxins. He was recognized in three categories — engineering, environment/ecology and chemistry.

UC begins DOD-funded clinical trials with Amplicore

With support from Amplicore, a University of Cincinnati spinoff biopharmaceutical company, researchers at UC have begun a Department of Defense-funded clinical trial that seeks a regenerative pharmaceutical solution for meniscal tears.

Earth.com: Dwarf hippos in Madagascar preferred forests

Earth.com and other science media highlight UC's discoveries about extinct hippos in Madagascar. An isotopic analysis found that dwarf hippos were not grazers of grasslands but instead preferred sedges and leaves in forests. This demonstrated the importance of forests to endemic wildlife on the island.

WVXU: UC/Children’s pilot new WIC enrollment method to reach the eligible

Researchers from the University of Cincinnati and Cincinnati Children’s Hospital Medical Center have received federal funding to develop user-friendly enrollment tools for Greater Cincinnati residents eligible for WIC, the federal assistance program called the Special Supplemental Nutrition Program for Women, Infants, and Children.

Pioneering treatments for ‘brain tsunamis’
