University, UC Health to host Tristate Opioid Symposium

UC and UC Health are hosting the third Tristate Opioid Symposium on March 25, 2020 at Kresge Auditorium. The symposium builds on the work of the UC/UC Health Opioid Task Force. Titled “Teaming Up to Take on the Opioid Epidemic,” the Tristate Opioid Symposium features guest speakers from the University of North Carolina-Chapel Hill, Johns Hopkins University and Bowling Green State University. The symposium will also feature abstracts from those doing novel research, clinical interventions, education and community outreach projects.

Maria Espinola was born in Argentina’s Patagonia region during the country’s last military dictatorship — a period of political repression known as the Dirty War. When elections were restored, Espinola’s parents enrolled her in a program designed to teach youth about the importance of a free society and the role journalists can play in maintaining democracy.
