Bryard Huggins (BM Commercial Music Production, ‘17) recently accompanied iconic soul singer Gladys Knight for a concert in Florida. Huggins was featured as an up-and-coming artist and performed alongside Knight in a cover of Barbara Streisand’s “The Way We Were,” followed by a solo rendition of Richard Smallwood’s “Total Praise.” Knight has a history of helping launch the careers of pop crooners like Alicia Keys and Michael Bublé through these side-by-side appearances. On April 25, Huggins will collaborate onstage with Knight once more for a concert at the Ryman Auditorium in his hometown.

CCM’s recent production of "The Marriage of Figaro" (Le nozze di Figaro, 1786) is now available for on-demand viewing as part of the CCMONSTAGE Online Archives series. This iconic opera, which was composed by Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart with libretto by Lorenzo Da Ponte, was originally performed live in Corbett Auditorium on Saturday, Nov. 20, 2021. On Feb. 17, the CCM Philharmonia will showcase its stars-of-tomorrow in a riveting concert that’s sure to offer something for everyone. The performance, titled “Carnival!” will begin with Shawn Okpebholo’s Kutimbua Kivumbi (Stomp the Dust!). Okpebholo received his master’s and doctoral degrees in composition from CCM, and his music has been described as "devastatingly beautiful" and "fresh and new and fearless" by the Washington Post.

Four UC College-Conservatory of Music alumni are named nominees in the 77th annual Tony Awards, recognizing the excellent work shared in Broadway productions during the 2023-24 season. The nominees, announced Tuesday, April 30, include Isabella Byrd (BFA Lighting Design and Technology, ’09), Shoshana Bean (BFA Musical Theatre, '99), Dorian Harewood and Leslie Kritzer (BFA Musical Theatre, '99).

UC College-Conservatory of Music Interim Dean Jonathan Kregor has announced the addition of acclaimed hornist Margaret Tung to the college’s roster of distinguished performing and media arts faculty members. Hailed as “masterly” in the Chicago Classical Review and “spot on at every moment” in the Cleveland Plain Dealer, Tung begins her appointment as CCM Associate Professor of Horn on Aug. 15, 2023.

Uc College-Conservatory of Music Professor of Piano and Artist-in-Residence Awadagin Pratt spoke to the Cincinnati Business Courier about his aspirations to diversify the arts industry by encouraging the next generation Black American pianists. Pratt was one of three recipients of the 2021 Sphinx Venture Fund, generating an award of $100,000 to kick-start the biannual Nina Simone Piano Competition beginning summer 2023.

Although the COVID-19 pandemic prevented CCM Musical Theatre from holding its customary Senior Showcases for agents and casting directors in New York this spring, the program's new Virtual Senior Showcase allows industry insiders and the general public to see this year's seniors in action.

The boisterous notes of New Orleans’ opulent Mardi Gras will fill the National Underground Railroad Freedom Center's Harriet Tubman Theater during a concert featuring UC College-Conservatory of Music students and faculty beginning at 7:30 p.m. on Friday, March 3. A companion to the Freedom Center’s Black History Month programming, this off-campus New Orleans Mardi Gras Concert is a celebration of music and culture featuring New Orleans-based jazz trumpeter Ashlin Parker and the CCM Jazz Orchestra. Directed by CCM Director of Jazz Studies Scott Belck, DMA, the Saturday night concert promises an evening with all the revelry and flair of Mardi Gras, followed by a reception and meet-and-greet with the Ashlin Parker.
