UC College-Conservatory of Music Interim Dean Jonathan Kregor has announced the addition of Matthew D. Schatt to the college’s roster of distinguished performing and media arts faculty members. Schatt’s appointment as Associate Professor of Music Education begins on Aug. 15, 2022.

Acclaimed baritone and CCM Associate Professor of Voice Elliot Madore stars in Identity: A Song Cycle, a new film from Against the Grain Theatre directed by Joel Ivany. The film, which was released on Oct. 23, features the performance of five new songs—with music by composer Dinuk Wijeratne and original poetry by Shauntay Grant—and is currently available to stream on Against the Grain Theatre’s website.

UC College-Conservatory of Music Dean Stanley E. Romanstein has announced the addition of Moni (Jasmine) Guo to the college’s roster of distinguished performing and media arts faculty members. A classical pianist and contemporary composer who is currently focused on scoring for visual media arts, Guo's appointment as Assistant Professor of Commercial Music Production begins on Aug. 15, 2022.

Conductor, arranger and CCM alumnus Avishay Shalom (MM Orchestral Conducting, ‘16) received first prize at the second edition of the Arthur Nikisch International Conducting Competition, which was held from June 6-11, 2022, in Bulgaria.

The Dayton Daily News recently caught up with CCM alum Alex Stone (BFA Musical Theatre, ‘19) ahead of his appearance at the Schuster Center as part of the national touring company of Fiddler on the Roof. The iconic musical returned to Broadway for its 50th anniversary in 2015, and Stone has been part of the show’s touring cast since 2021.

An accomplished director, choreographer, actor and educator, Wolcott’s appointment as Assistant Professor-Educator of Musical Theatre begins on Aug. 15, 2023.

To celebrate its return to the newly renovated David Geffen Hall at Lincoln Center, the New York Philarmonic recorded a program of masterworks and world premieres to be broadcast on PBS. Led by Philharmonic Music Director Jaap van Zweden, the concert features CCM alumna Joélle Harvey (BM Voice '07, MM Voice '09) as the soprano soloist in Beethoven’s “Ode to Joy.” The recorded program will premiere at 9 p.m. on Friday, Nov. 4, as part of PBS’s Great Performances series.

The Ohio Arts Council selected UC College-Conservatory of Music alumna Kathy Wade (MM Arts Administration, '81) to receive a Governor’s Award for the Arts in Ohio. In recognition of their impactful and visionary leadership in Ohio’s creative sector and their sustained dedication to promoting artistic excellence, awardees will be honored during a ceremony on May 17, 2023. Each of the winners will receive an original work of art by painter Brian Robinson of Dover.

The Cincinnati Review has produced a digital play, the technology version of a stage play. The work, 'Lucid Dreaming' by David Greg is presented in web page format with scrolling features. This was a cross-college effort and is believed to be the first of its kind.

Stevens begins her new role as CCM’s Visiting Assistant Professor of Acting in Musical Theatre on Aug. 15, 2023.
