Law School Plans Women's Conference On Law And Social Change

The conference, "Women Coming Together," is sponsored by the Ford Foundation and will provide opportunities to develop new strategies, expand and enhance coalitions, and share ideas about how to claim the law as a vehicle for social change. The focus will be on women's health and well-being.

Law Symposium Examines Corporate Social Responsibility Issues

"Corporate Social Responsibility in the International Context" is the topic for the 18th annual Corporate Law Symposium, presented on Feb. 18 by the UC College of Law. This year's symposium is free and open to the public, with 3 hours of free Ohio or Kentucky CLE credit available to participants.

On Your Mark, Get Set, Argue!: Law School Group To Sponsor Fund-raising Race

Want to see a lawyer sweat? Try running next to one in the 2005 Race Judicata 5k Run/Walk, that will be held on the streets around campus on April 2. Pre-registration ends on March 25. The event benefits the Summer Public Interest Fellowship Fund of the college's Public Interest Law Group, allowing UC law students to serve during summer months with agencies working on behalf of the public interest.

Pinochet Foe To Speak At Law School On Pursuit Of Justice In Chile

Judge Juan Guzman Tapia, who investigated human rights violations during the Pinochet regime in Chile, will speak at the UC College of Law on March 31 at 4 p.m. on "The Pursuit of Justice In Chile." The lecture will also be available for viewing as a live Webcast.

Balkans Expert To Deliver Law's Immigration And Nationality Lecture

Andre Gerolymatos, director of Hellenic Studies at Simon Fraser University and an international authority on Greece and the Balkans, will be speaking on "Nationalism and Ethnic Conflict" on March 31 at 3 p.m. at the UC College of Law. He is the 2005 distinguished lecturer for the journal "Immigration and Nationality Law Review," which is based at the college.

Former UC Law Dean Returns To Discuss 'Law And Morality In Counter-Terrorism'

Tom Gerety, executive director of the Brennan Center for Justice at the New York University School of Law and former dean of the UC College of Law, will be featured at the UC College of Law's 2005 Robert S. Marx Lecture. Gerety will be discussing "Law and Morality in Counter-Terrorism" on April 13 at 10 a.m. in Room 114 of the College of Law.
