Each year the University of Cincinnati (UC) Department of Athletics selects student-athletes from each of UC's 19 varsity sports to be inducted into the Legion of Excellence. This year, student-athlete Meagan Gulmi, a senior in the College of Allied Health Sciences and goalie for the UC women s lacrosse team, is an inductee.

This summer, faculty and students at UC s Facility for the Education and Testing of Canine Hearing and Lab Animal Bioacoustics (FETCH~LAB) worked with the League of Animal Welfare to install new sound-absorbent panels in the shelter's dog kennel.

A new distance learning degree from the College of Allied Health Sciences has been approved by the Ohio Board of Regents. The Master s in Health Informatics program, designed to train students in the management and analysis of healthcare or biomedical data, will be a collaborative distance learning degree between Allied Health Sciences and UC s Carl Lindner College of Business.

Julia Piazza, master s student in nutritional sciences at UC s College of Allied Health Sciences, received a 2012 Student Research Award from the Society of Nutrition Education and Behavior (SNEB) at the society s annual conference last week in Washington, D.C.

Audiology doctorate student Dora Murphy is in her final year of studies at UC s College of Allied Health Sciences. The Ohio Academy of Audiology recently named Murphy as their 2013 Outstanding Student, which recognizes a student who has demonstrated outstanding clinical achievement and patient care, the highest level of scholastic achievement and exceptional service to the profession of audiology.
