Atlanta Journal Constitution: Ointment kills antibiotic-resistant bacteria, promotes wound healing

The Atlanta Journal Constitution published a story on research at the University of Cincinnati College of Medicine possibly adding a weapon to hospitals’ bacteria fighting arsenal.Using the topical drug called AB569 — a combination of acidified nitrite and ethylenediaminetetraacetic acid — promotes killing of antibiotic-resistant bacteria while enhancing the healing of wounds in a variety of burn injuries, the study found. The study was published in the journal Infection and Immunity.

UC establishes 'heart bank'

The University of Cincinnati College of Medicine is opening what it calls a “heart bank” to collect tissue samples that can be used by researchers. Those samples will be stored in a biorepository to provide a potentially valuable resource to help researchers find answers to scientific questions.

Final ‘Strength in Immunity’ vaccination drawing winners announced

The University of Cincinnati is awarding prizes in the weekly ‘Strength in Immunity’ drawing. To further encourage vaccination against COVID-19, the university is conducting weekly drawings for gift cards in varying amounts of $2,500 or $5,000. In all, the university will award nearly $50,000.
