New UC telehealth drone makes house calls

Three colleges at the University of Cincinnati collaborated to develop a semi-autonomous drone that can be dispatched right to people’s homes. The drones are big enough to carry medicine or medical supplies but small enough to maneuver the tight confines of a home using navigational algorithms developed by UC engineers so patients can talk face to face to their doctors or pharmacists.

First engineering education student paves the way

Jutshi Agarwal is blazing a trail as the first student enrolled in the newly minted engineering education graduate program at the University of Cincinnati. The engineering education graduate program, which offers both a master of science and a doctor of philosophy path, encompasses the research and study of how to best educate engineering students at all levels, from grade schoolers through college students and even workforce development.

UC doctoral student blends biology, chemical engineering

Having earned a bachelor's degree in biology at the University of Cincinnati, Jacob Orkwis is now pursing a Ph.D. in chemical engineering at UC. His research work on the regeneration of peripheral nervous system tissue blends his biology background with chemical, biomedical and materials engineering. Orkwis was named Graduate Student Engineering of the Month by UC’s College of Engineering and Applied Science.

Engineering student’s roller coaster model serves as inspiration for kids

Jared Holladay, who is graduating from the University of Cincinnati this spring with a computer engineering degree, combined his love of roller coasters and automated control systems to create a 3D printed roller coaster model that will be used for STEM outreach and education by UC and supporting partner Rockwell Automation.
