Virtual engineering class reimagines global collaboration

June 23, 2021

The COVID-19 pandemic resulted in a forced pause to the usual international travel experiences at the University of Cincinnati. In response to a call for innovative ideas for virtual global experiences, Cedrick Kwuimy, assistant professor-educator in UC’s Department of Engineering Education, devised a program to give first-year engineering students some of the same growth opportunities they would have with a study abroad or work abroad program. UC students collaborated virtually with students at University of Cape Coast in Ghana and at Bahir Dar University in Ethiopia
