UC student aims to develop and educate others on space exploration systems

Through his research in aerospace engineering, University of Cincinnati doctoral candidate Anirudh Chhabra aims to develop systems that can help us better explore and understand space. He also aims to fulfill his passion for teaching by pursuing a career in academia post-graduation, teaching others about space exploration and technology. Chhabra’s research as part of the Intelligent Autonomous Systems Research Laboratory (IASRL) has been federally funded, and he was named the Graduate Student Engineer of the Month by UC’s College of Engineering and Applied Science.

UC engineering student aims to introduce robots into daily life

Yufeng Sun, University of Cincinnati aerospace engineering doctoral student, returned to academia for a transformative experience. Prior to beginning his doctoral studies, he worked for more than 10 years at Autodesk, a Computer Aided Design (CAD) software company. While at UC, he has mentored undergraduate students, served as a teaching assistant in several courses and provided visiting high school students with an introduction to aerospace engineering research. Through these interactions with students and witnessing their success, he developed a great passion for mentoring and was recently named Graduate Student Engineer of the Month from UC’s College of Engineering and Applied Science.

UC engineer makes an impact with nanomaterials

University of Cincinnati doctoral student Vamsi Krishna Reddy Kondapalli has studied nanomaterials, specifically graphene, since he was an undergraduate student at a university in India. He chose UC for his graduate degrees due to the state-of-the-art facilities and the support for innovation. Kondapalli was named Graduate Student Engineer of the Month from UC's College of Engineering and Applied Science.

UC engineering students win aircraft design competition

May 19, 2023

Each year, the Merlin Flight Simulation Group holds an aircraft design and handling competition for university students. For the competition, students, individually or in groups, are tasked with creating and designing an aircraft that can fly. This year, a group of 16 University of Cincinnati senior aerospace engineering students from the College of Engineering and Applied Science (CEAS) entered their supersonic business jet in the competition and won.

UC electrical engineering graduate developing future Intel chips

June 8, 2023

While earning her doctoral degree in electrical engineering at the University of Cincinnati, Megha Chitranshi focused her research on the creation of nanotube hybrid fabrics to foster a sustainable environment. Chitranshi now works as a yield engineer at Intel. Before she graduated, she was named Graduate Student Engineer of the Month by UC’s College of Engineering and Applied Science.

Society of Hispanic Professional Engineers celebrates 50 years

The Society of Hispanic Professional Engineers (SHPE) has been uplifting and empowering Hispanic Engineers nationwide for the last 50 years. The SHPE chapter at the University of Cincinnati is one of nearly 300 university chapters in the U.S. Founded in 1973 by a Hispanic civil engineer working in Los Angeles, SHPE was created to increase professional support for Hispanic engineers and provide a sense of community in an area where representation is lacking.

UC launches training for new Intel jobs

The University of Cincinnati is training the first of the approximately 20,000 workers Intel Corp. plans to hire at the microchip fabrication plants it is building in southwest Ohio.

UC and GE partner to introduce high schoolers to engineering

September 21, 2023

Rising 9th and 10th graders experienced a free, weeklong, immersive engineering camp at the University of Cincinnati as part of GE's Next Engineers program. Students completed hands-on engineering design challenges while being mentored by GE Aerospace volunteers, industry professionals and current College of Engineering and Applied Science (CEAS) students.
