UC makes connections to key players in the theme park industry

For Andrew Holcroft Disney World had always been a place for family memories and entertainment as a youth. But he entered high school he seriously began to think about fields of study, careers and if he could do more than just visit theme parks. Maybe he could be part of a team creating or enhancing a theme park. As a a fourth-year industrial design student at the University of Cincinnati he's exploring that option.

UC offers summer course on animal-inspired robotics

The UC creators of Biology Meets Engineering are wrapping up a three-year National Science Foundation grant to develop and demonstrate a new curriculum drawing from both fields in UC’s College of Arts and Sciences and its College of Engineering and Applied Science. UC students take the class for course credit while faculty will offer a three-week course in June to introduce the concept to high school students.

Future environmental engineer takes helm of UC student government

Meet UC Student Body President Isaac Smitherman. He's a third-year environmental engineering major. Smitherman, a Black openly gay student and possibly the first to lead the UC student body, is also a vegan and a proponent of sustainable practices that support human, ecological and economic health and well-being.

Aerospace engineer works to improve helicopter turbulence at sea

Syed Qasim Zaheer is a doctoral candidate at the University of Cincinnati studying aerospace engineering, with a specialized interest in fluid dynamics and flow turbulence. His doctoral work has primarily focused on the analysis of air wakes from large ships during sea-based operations, and how to work towards preventing air wakes from causing turbulence to helicopters that land and take off from the ships. Zaheer is a recipient of the Professor R.T. Davis Memorial Scholarship, and was named Graduate Student Engineer of the Month by UC’s College of Engineering and Applied Science.

UC aerospace engineering student turns his dreams into reality

Dilip Kalagotla, a doctoral candidate at the University of Cincinnati, came to the U.S. to study aerospace engineering. He is working to improve tools used in the field. Particle image velocimetry, the focus of his research, provides important data to aerospace engineers. He was named Graduate Student Engineer of the Month by UC's College of Engineering and Applied Science.

CEAS Expo showcases engineering capstone projects

The second annual College of Engineering and Applied Science (CEAS) Expo featured the capstone projects of senior engineering students from the University of Cincinnati. College faculty, staff, students, alumni and industry professionals attended the event organized by CEAS Tribunal, the college student government group, and held at the Duke Energy Convention Center in downtown Cincinnati.
