Thrift Fashions Make Cents for Students and Community

A penny saved earned applause for UC fashion sophomores who made highly creative garments from low-cost, thrift-store bargains. About 60 students previewed their garments yesterday, and they ll model them again at a fall fashion show for the community.

Santorini is a Mediterranean island that s just too pretty for its own good. The eight-mile gem of radiant sea, sky and cliffs and its 12,000 year-round inhabitants receive three million visitors a year. It s way too many people wanting way too much. And that s why the island invited an Extreme (Tourism) Make-Over Team from the University of Cincinnati to come and help tame tourism there.
