Mother, daughter Bearcats embody “Latinos en Acción”

When Giselle Coleman-Martinez (A&S ’20) enrolled at the University of Cincinnati and expressed interest in joining Latinos en Acción, her mother, Lisette Martinez (Bus, Marketing ’96), was especially pleased. “I was a founder of that organization,” Lisette Martinez told her daughter.

He came to the University of Cincinnati from Harlem, via New York City’s prestigious High School of Economics & Finance. He came for a college education, to launch his military career in the ROTC, and to revel in the nationally ranked Bearcat basketball team. She came to UC from Columbus, Ohio, a Darwin T. Turner Scholar. She came for a college education, for the honors program, and to participate in activities sponsored by the African American Cultural and Research Center (AACRC).

Lindner professor uses analytics to solve problems

A professor at the University of Cincinnati’s Carl H. Lindner College of Business in the Department of Operations, Business Analytics, and Information Systems (OBAIS), Fry enthusiastically shares his knowledge with students. "What’s unique about analytics is that it can be applied to so many different problems," Fry says. "I’ve been able to apply analytic models to healthcare, voting, logistics and even sports." Fry, who is also academic director of the UC Center for Business Analytics, says partnerships with 29 companies like Cincinnati Children’s, GE Aviation and Macy’s, give students access to experiential data and the opportunity to solve real problems.

UC real estate students compete in development case competition

UC Real Estate students recently competed for the winning proposal submission for redevelopment of a targeted area of downtown Cincinnati to enhance business and community. Fourteen groups, consisting of 3-4 students each prepared visual presentations that outlined their proposals.
