CCM Piano students form interdisciplinary art collective

Two of CCM’s doctoral piano students recently started Music X Habitat X Art, an organization that combines classical music with immersive visual art, both in physical installations and in the digital space. Yaoyue Huang and Scott Sherman, alongside Chinese visual artist Amelie Jiang, just enjoyed their organization’s first solo exhibition.

Listen: Cincy Playhouse shares CCM audio plays

Each audio play is its own story, and you can listen to these pieces for free in any order you choose. They represent a year-long collaboration that reached into many corners of Cincinnati. Students from all over UC (CCM Acting, Sound Design, Stage Management, Commercial Music Production, Digital Media, and the College of Arts & Sciences’ Fiction PhD program) and local professional writers (YA author Liz Coley and musician, comedian and raconteur Paul Strickland) came together to make something truly special. Paul Strickland's play will be available soon. The Playhouse is assisting CCM by hosting and helping to promote these free audio plays.

CCM's summer programs offer arts enthusiasts the chance to work with the college's world-class faculty and renowned guest artists at CCM's state-of-the-art facilities.

UC students find creative outlet in Black Arts Collaborative

By Joí Dean Black Arts Collaborative, (BAC) is a platform for the expression of Black art. The student organization focuses on the adversities and experiences of the Black community, but is open to students of all ethnicities. In the past, BAC has held a numerous number of events at various functions on campus such as Akwaaba (Black Student Welcome), Tyehimba graduation and even halftime shows at football games. There are five main branches of departments within BAC: drama, dance, poetry, visual arts and technology. In order to participate in one of the departments students will send in an audition video that pertains to their area of interest to the organization’s email account addressing which branch of the department they prefer. Students are able to audition for more than one section and are able to be a part of as many departments they are approved of. “BAC is one of the most prestigious organizations on campus as far as the African American community within the [African American Culture Resource Center], AACRC, said DJ Benson, a fifth-year majoring in biology and health education.

Grammy Award-winning singer Elliot Madore joins CCM’s faculty

UC College-Conservatory of Music Dean Stanley E. Romanstein has announced the addition of accomplished baritone Elliot Madore to the college’s roster of distinguished performing and media arts faculty members. One of the most sought-after singers of his generation, Madore has performed throughout Europe, Canada and the US. His new appointment as Associate Professor of Voice at CCM begins on Aug. 15, 2021.

WVXU: Podcast showcases CCM's pipeline to entertainment industry

The School, Stage & Screen podcast created by UC College-Conservatory of Music alumni takes listeners inside the entertainment industry with stories and advice from Broadway performers, television actors, movie producers, make-up artists and more. WVXU's Cincinnati Edition recently featured the podcast in an interview with co-hosts Brian J. Leitten (BFA E-Media, ’02) and Dylan Mulvaney (BFA Musical Theatre, ’19).
