Chemical engineer produces biofuels from waste materials

Yu Zhang, who first came to the University of Cincinnati in 2014 to begin a master’s degree in environmental engineering., is continuing her research work in developing biofuels from waste as a doctoral student in chemical engineering in the College of Engineering and Applied Science. She shares her research goals, UC experience and the impact she hopes to make through engineering.

Engineering student shifts from the stage to the lab

Garek Bushnell came to the University of Cincinnati with a singular goal: to study acting. He graduated in April 2021 with his bachelor’s degree in chemical engineering instead. UC students win environmental challenge competition

A team of University of Cincinnati engineering students won first place in the virtual Environmental Challenge International Competition hosted by the Air and Waste Management Association. For the challenge, the students were tasked with proposing effective solutions to a simulated environmental problem based on real-world events. Their winning solution included suggesting modular nuclear energy.
