Engineering doctoral student leads cutting-edge semiconductor work

Vamshi Kiran Gogi always wanted to be an engineer. During the first semester of his master's program at the University of Cincinnati, he developed a passion for semiconductor research, leading him to transition into a PhD program. Throughout his years as a Bearcat, Gogi has served as the president of the Electrical Engineering and Computer Science Graduate Student Association, trained students in cleanroom processes, acted as a graduate assistant in the Office of College Computing and more. He was named Graduate Student Engineer of the Month by UC's College of Engineering and Applied Science.

UC alum delivers virtual startup in e-commerce fulfillment

University of Cincinnati alumnus Jason Harbert attended the College of Engineering. He is the co-founder and chief technology officer (CTO) of Flowspace, partnering with CEO Ben Eachus. They combined their passion, skillsets and experience to create a cutting-edge full-service fulfillment management solution for direct-to-consumer (DTC) and business-to-business (B2B) models.

UC professors named scientific society fellows

June 7, 2024

Three University of Cincinnati professors were named to the 2023 class of American Association for the Advancement of Science Fellows, a distinguished lifetime honor within the scientific community. From UC's College of Arts and Sciences, Carlton Brett, a professor in the department of geosciences, and George Uetz, a biological sciences professor, were honored. Dionysios Dionysiou, a professor of environmental engineering in the College of Engineering and Applied Science, was honored posthumously.

Engineering professor honored for distinguished scientific research

In 2019, Munir Nazzal joined the University of Cincinnati College of Engineering and Applied Science as a professor in the Department of Civil and Architectural Engineering and Construction Management. Throughout his time at UC, he has received various accolades for his advancements in transportation research, including the UC George Rieveschl Jr. Award for Distinguished Scientific Research for 2024.

UC engineering faculty awarded more than $3M to reduce carbon emissions

The city of Cincinnati has a goal of being carbon neutral by the year 2050. Amanda Webb, assistant professor of architectural engineering at the University of Cincinnati, is making strides to bring this to fruition. She has received three major awards from the National Science Foundation and the Department of Energy to reduce carbon emissions.

UC Day of Giving a success

University of Cincinnati Day of Giving’s 24-hour challenge was a tremendous success this year, raising $2,219,197 with 3,232 gifts. The fourth annual UC Day of Giving raised its most money to date with alumni, donors, students, faculty and staff joining together to support UC and UC Health.

UC holds first Women of Color in Engineering Summer Camp

A new camp was launched this summer at the University of Cincinnati that aims to inspire more girls to pursue STEM. The Women of Color in Engineering Camp hosted 29 high school students for the week-long virtual camp.
