CCM Piano faculty give recital for U.S. Library of Congress

December 14, 2020

UC College-Conservatory of Music Piano Professors Soyeon Kate Lee and Ran Dank recently gave a performance of Beethoven’s Symphony No. 9 in D minor, as arranged by Franz Liszt, for the U.S. Library of Congress. The December 12 concert recording will be cataloged and preserved in the library for generations to come.

CCM alumnus ends 'The Voice' season 19 on a high note

Countertenor John Holiday (MM Voice, ’12) consistently stunned viewers and judges alike during season 19 of NBC’s The Voice. The UC College-Conservatory of Music alumnus battled through knockout duets, epic solos and audience voting rounds to make it to the top five singers.

Violin Channel: CCM alumna accepted into third Sphinx LEAD Program

UC College-Conservatory of Music alumna Johnnia Stigall (BM Viola, '12; MM Viola, '12; MA Arts Administration, '14) is a member of the third cohort of the prestigious Sphinx LEAD (Leaders in Excellence, Arts and Diversity) program. The two-year leadership program is designed to evolve the industry landscape by empowering the next generation of executive leaders.

Financial Times: The designers bringing craft to streetwear

Fashion brand Graziano and Gutiérrez, founded in 2018 by Alejandro Gutiérrez and Samuel Graziano as part of a thesis project at the University of Cincinnati, places craftsmanship at the heart of the design process by working directly with artisans based in Teotitlán del Valle, Oaxaca and San Andrés Larráinzar, Chiapas.

CSO Fanfare Project debuts new work performed by CSO/CCM Diversity Fellow

The Cincinnati Symphony Orchestra's Fanfare Project launched in May 2020 to commission and premiere new solo works in response to the coronavirus pandemic. It's shared new music from more than 12 composers so far, including a recently premiered Viola Fanfare by Grammy-winner and MacArthur "Genius Grant" recipient Rhiannon Giddens. CCM student competes in NextGen Competition Semi-Finals

UC College-Conservatory of Music Musical Theatre senior Veronica Stern has advanced to the semi-final round of the 4th annual NextGen: The Voices of Tomorrow competition, hosted by the American Pops Orchestra. This year’s iteration of the event will be held via livestream, which means that anybody can view the event online when it takes place on Nov. 21.

UC Answers: How does UC replicate the design studio experience online?

Stephen Slaughter is an assistant professor in the University of Cincinnati’s College of Design, Architecture, Art, and Planning. This year, like so many instructors, Slaughter had to shift gears in his classes in DAAP’s School of Architecture and Interior Design to accommodate online learning. Slaughter shares how he adapted his studio classes for a virtual environment.
