Backstage Magazine names CCM a top college vocal program

Earlier this month, Backstage Magazine released its list of “12 College Vocal Programs You Should Know,” which included UC’s College-Conservatory of Music alongside the likes of the Juilliard School, the Berklee College of Music, New England Conservatory and other top performing arts institutions.

CCM alumni in Tony Award-nominated productions

University of Cincinnati's College-Conservatory of Music is consistently recognized by Playbill for being in the top ten most represented colleges on Broadway. Although the curtains are temporarily closed and the stage lights are dull, the annual Tony Awards is moving forward to recognize the excellent work performing artists have shared in Broadway productions during the 2019-20 season.

Local music spotlight: On a Limb releases new album

UC College-Conservatory of Music alumni pianist Andrew Haug (BM Jazz Studies, ‘18), bassist Noah Simionides (BM Jazz Studies, ‘17) and drummer Charlie Schefft (BM Music Education, ‘19) teamed up four years ago to create On a Limb, a jazz-influenced instrumental trio. The ensemble has experienced significant successes, including tour dates around the United States and now the release of its second album, Replaying the Tapes.

CCMONSTAGE: Watch the CCM Philharmonia's Sept. 12 performance

The CCM Philharmonia reunites on the stage of Corbett Auditorium to present a socially-distanced virtual performance. Led by Director of Orchestral Studies Mark Gibson, the concert also features a performance by mezzo-soprano and CCM Professor Quinn Patrick Ankrum, DMA. Watch the performance video today. CCM voice alumnae named 2019 Sara Tucker Study Grant recipients

Each year, the Richard Tucker Music Foundation awards the Sara Tucker Study Grant to singers, selected through a vocal competition, who are recently out of the university or conservatory and are considered to be at the beginning of promising careers. This year’s newly-announced recipients include two recent UC College-Conservatory of Music alumnae: Kayleigh Decker (MM Voice, 2017) and Jessica Faselt (MM Voice, 2016).

CCM student named Grand Finals Winner of the Metropolitan Opera’s 2019 National Council Auditions

April 2, 2019

CCM student Elena Villalón has been named a Grand Finals Winner of the Metropolitan Opera’s 2019 National Council Auditions. After a months-long series of auditions involving more than 1,000 singers at the district, regional and national levels, a panel of expert judges named Villalón and four other singers as the winners of the 65th annual Metropolitan Opera National Council Auditions. Each winner receives a $15,000 cash prize.
