UC, UC Health to examine potential COVID-19 treatment

The University of Cincinnati College of Medicine and UC Health are continuing their efforts in fighting the spread of the coronavirus by activating as a site to follow a research protocol from the Mayo Clinic to administer convalescent plasma to the sickest patients with COVID-19. Convalescent plasma is obtained from people who have recovered from COVID-19 and have been free of symptoms for 28 days. This program may allow access to that plasma for hospitalized patients infected with the novel coronavirus who have severe or life-threatening COVID-19, or who may be at high risk for progression to severe or life-threatening disease.
UC COVID-19 studies awarded $425K

Understanding that time was of the essence in combating this highly infectious disease, UC and its College of Medicine’s Office of Research conducted a rapid review and distribution of $425,000 in novel pilot grants to researchers, focusing on eradicating the disease.

Lindner College of Business in 2013, the 4,300-plus students Rapien has taught have given him an average rating of 7.63 out of eight on student evaluations. Before she learned she had been named this year’s recipient of the Distinguished Teaching Professor Award, Professor Gayle Elliott perhaps hadn’t realized just how big of a difference she has made in the lives of countless University of Cincinnati alumni and students.
