New UC telehealth drone makes house calls

Three colleges at the University of Cincinnati collaborated to develop a semi-autonomous drone that can be dispatched right to people’s homes. The drones are big enough to carry medicine or medical supplies but small enough to maneuver the tight confines of a home using navigational algorithms developed by UC engineers so patients can talk face to face to their doctors or pharmacists.

UC engineering student committed to improving education in STEM

At the University of Cincinnati, Gibin Raju was able to combine his passions for engineering and teaching. UC is home to a prolific engineering education program, one of the first of its kind. As a doctoral student, Raju uses biomarkers like eye-tracking and electrodermal activity to understand how students go about solving problems in engineering.

UC student aims to better interpret artificial intelligence

Javier Viaña Pérez started his studies in mechanical engineering earning two degrees in his native Spain and then came to the University of Cincinnati for his master’s and Ph.D. in aerospace engineering. He has racked up a long list of accomplishments, including creating a high-resolution camera for microsatellites that is currently in use on the International Space Station. His doctoral research in artificial intelligence is dedicated to making a radical shift in how we think about AI. He was named UC College of Engineering and Applied Science Graduate Student Engineer of the Month.

Grad student creates drones for disaster relief
