CityBeat recently published its annual Best of Cincinnati® issue, and several CCM programs and performances were recognized in this year's roundup. CityBeat staff awarded CCM "Best Musical Hat Trick" for the combined accomplishments of the musicals "Sunday in the Park with George," "She Loves Me" and "Something Rotten!" CCM's Media Production Division also gained a coveted spot in this year's list of Cincinnati's best sports and recreations offerings, receiving the "Best Student Program With Actual National Exposure" award for the division's innovative Sports Media Production curriculum.

In a new short film created by CCM's Production Master Class, viewers can peek backstage to see how the September 2023 production of the musical rom-com Sweet Charity was designed and run by a team of students from throughout the college's Theatre Design and Production Department. Current CCM students Kali Ashurst, Baron Leon, Clara Cavins and Claire Bonnette, along with alumni guest artist Joshua E. Gallagher, discuss how they put their education into action while creating this acclaimed production.

CCM Dance caps its 2022-23 season with “Fairies, Swans and Still Waters” April 13-16 in Corbett Auditorium. The program is centered around the world premiere of “Still Waters,” with choreography by Shauna Steele and music by DMA Composition student Grace Choi. Selections from two of the most beloved works of the classical ballet repertoire bookend the premiere: Tchaikovsky’s Sleeping Beauty and Swan Lake. Tickets are available now through the CCM Box Office.

UC College Conservatory of Music (CCM) launches its Opera Series with Benjamin Britten’s The Rape of Lucretia. The opera, one of the masterpieces of the English repertoire, runs Thursday, Nov. 16 through Sunday, Nov 19 in the Patricia Corbett Theatre. Tickets are on sale now through the CCM Box Office.

CCM Opera’s production of Philp Glass’s Galileo Galilei recently nabbed five nominations in BroadwayWorld Cincinnati’s annual awards for excellence in the region’s performing arts. The production, which ran from March 31 to April 3, 2022, has been recognized in the categories of Best Ensemble, Best Direction of a Musical (Greg Eldridge, Associate Professor of Opera Directing), Best Lighting Design of a Play or Musical (Ian Macintosh, BFA Lighting Design ‘22, and Thomas Hase, MFA Lighting Design) and Best Choreography (Hazel Alexander, BFA Dance ‘24). The awards are determined by audience vote, and the online poll is open through December 31.
