Robots Teach Design Students About Being Human

University of Cincinnati design freshmen are building robot self-portraits in order to test their automatic assumptions about human beings.  They ll display their handiwork along the main staircase of the College of Design, Architecture, Art, and Planning from 11 a.m.-2 p.m., Monday, Feb. 7.

Statue Sets Questions in Motion at Design College

Student Alan Marrero went out on a ledge in seeking an A in art.  Last Sunday, he positioned a startlingly  life-like sculpture of himself on an outcropping 15 feet from the College of Design, Architecture, Art, and Planning floor.  Double-takes along with scoldings and incredulous questions directed at the statue have followed ever since.

DAAP Grant of Nearly $2 Million Promises New Brand of Success

How to grow even when markets don t that s the question UC's Center for Design, Research and Innovation will help answer.  The center just received a $1,886,563 grant, to be shared with a local business, to improve product design and manufacturing processes.  It s a big win for the Cincinnati area.

Stephen Marc Lecture Going On Today in DAAP

The Stephen Marc lecture "Passage on the Underground Railroad: An Artist Exploring the Past with the Technology of the Future," sponsored by the Taft Memorial Fund and the departments of English, History, African and African American Studies and Fine Arts, is scheduled for today, April 14, at 4 p.m. in 5401 DAAP. The lecture will be followed by a reception for his exhibition at the Reed Gallery, DAAP, from 5 to 7 p.m.

A new study by University of Cincinnati planners pinpoints more accurately than ever before just where Section 8 housing-voucher recipients reside. Many voucher families live in areas with high concentrations of poverty and  high numbers of racial minorities.
