CCM's "Thinking About Music" lecture series continues with a virtual presentation titled “Hans or Hanuš: Winterberg’s Complex Tangles with the 20th Century” by Michael Haas, a Grammy Award-winning recording producer. Originally presented via Zoom on March 19, 2021, the lecture is now available for on-demand viewing.

UC College-Conservatory of Music student Aadhivan Ramkumar won first place and a $1,000 award at the Young Composers Competition at the Prelude Chamber Music Festival for his three-movement string quartet Tremors.

New Music USA recently announced six composers who have been co-commissioned to write new orchestral works through its Amplifying Voices Program, supported by the Sphinx Venture Fund. As one of the lead orchestras in the program, Berkeley Symphony co-commissioned UC College-Conservatory of Music alumnus Brian Raphael Nabors (MM Composition, ’15; DMA Composition, ’19) to write a new piece that will be premiered in the 2021-22 season.

UC College-Conservatory of Music Interim Dean Jonathan Kregor welcomes Felipe Tovar-Henao as the Charles Henry Turner Post-Doctoral Fellow at CCM, where he will continue his research and teach while preparing for a future faculty position. Tovar-Henao will be mentored by CCM Professor of Composition Michael Fiday during the 2-year appointment, which begins on Aug. 14, 2023.

The University of Cincinnati College-Conservatory of Music is pleased to congratulate Professor of Composition Michael Fiday on his receipt of the prestigious 2024 Arts and Letters Award in Music. One of only 4 awardees from across the nation, this illustrious recognition includes a cash award as well as an additional grant towards the recording of the recipient's work.

UC College-Conservatory of Music Composition Professor Michael Fiday will be celebrated in a retrospective program presented by concert:nova, a Cincinnati-based ensemble dedicated to innovative performances. The concert takes place on Saturday, October 1 at 7:30 p.m. in Myaamia Hall at ARCO Cincinnati, and will feature a wide selection of the Fiday’s award-wining output. Tickets are available online.

In 2019, UC College-Conservatory of Music student and now alumna Caroline Sackleh (DMA Bassoon Performance, ’20) created a music collective that focuses on highlighting the skills of women musicians and performing the works of living composers. With that vision in mind, New Downbeat was born. The ensemble now boasts over 20 performers and six affiliated composers, most of whom are CCM students or alumni.
